Sustainability

Wear attitude founded in conceptual values

Standards & certificates

Officially approved labels provide consumers with clear, neutral product information

New currents/tendencies in the debate about sustainable production create increasing expectations in relation to social responsibility, and this is why the Green Cotton Group today adheres to a high degree of trustworthy consciousness combined with the best available production technology, when developing and manufacturing our high quality fashion textiles.

Our adherence to internationally recognized standards of today places an environmental focus on Green Cotton products throughout their life-cycle and the Green Cotton Group actively supports life-cycle eco-labelling!

A sustainable life-cycle

Green Cotton focusses on exceptional quality for baby, children’s and adult wear. The heritage and experience within our company group, has led Green Cotton to be one of the most respected, transparent and authentic environmentally friendly trademarks in the world.

Transparency, honesty and integrity are absolutely at the heart of Green Cotton, with our Danish based Green Cotton Group providing a traceable supply chain from cotton to packaging.

Cultivation

This stage in the production cycle has a massive potential effect on the environment. Green Cotton encourages sustainable methods of cultivation and is therefore made from fibres of certified ecological origin. Green Cotton labelled clothing are made solely from cotton that is free of any pesticide residues.

Ginning

After harvesting, the fibre and seeds are separated. Traditionally, the seeds are either sown the following year or concerted into oil and feedstuffs.

Green Cotton encourages not only the production of environmentally friendly yarn, but also the help to create other sustainable products.

Spinning, knitting & weaving

Separating and washing cotton fibre and spinning it into yarn by traditional methods can be noisy and dusty business. The same goes for the knitting or weaving of the yarn into fabrics.

Green Cotton urges to do what is possible to reduce these problems to a minimum by applying the best technology available.

Dying & printing

The environmental hazards associated with dying and printing are well known. But dyes and other process chemicals can be used with a proper regard for the environment.

Green Cotton urges to assess and choose chemicals on their environmental merits and by using advanced cleaning processes.

Cutting & sewing

Quite clearly, waste of any kind is an unnecessary claim on natural resources. So it is important to arrange cutting and sewing to optimise use of the cloth. Green Cotton does just that.

Use & re-cycling

Green Cotton’s philosophy has to do with ethics and doing the least possible harm to nature. Durability is therefore one of the main qualities that is strived for in the Green Cotton products produced. But those who can afford it, often wish to renew their wardrobes before their clothes have reached the end of their useful life. Green Cotton recommend that such garments are passed on and, when finally worn out, recycled in other products.

The sustainable clothing trademark

"Green Cotton is your guarantee, that the textiles you’re wearing, are manufactured as environmentally friendly as possible!"

Green Cotton means doing as little harm as possible – to people and to the world we live in. In other words, Green Cotton is a trademark with a clearly defined approach. To the environment. To the production methods. And to the quality of the products, that are manufactured. Using sustainable and caring manufacturing methods, in every part of the production process, is the only way to conserve our fragile environment and to help keep it as fit and safe as possible for the next generations to come.

We support

CSR Partners

When the war in Ukraine started, we planned for a charity collection of money to the local society around our factory, and to our employees. Unfortunately, it was not practically possible to implement this, which is why the Care in Action program has been prioritized – see result of collection here.

There are more than 104,000 children living in care institutions in Ukraine, and only 10% of these will successfully transition to independence. In Malawi most children will never finish secondary school because of poverty. By using the power of education and partnerships we see more of these previously disadvantaged children grow up to support themselves and be a positive part of society.

The partnership between Green Cotton and Care in Action has empowered young people like Yulia to find employment and a better life. As a child Yulia experienced abuse and lived in care institutions, but with training, support and an apprenticeship she found work and became a confident, happy and dependable young woman. By giving funding and opportunities for work experience, Green Cotton helps Care in Action to provide transformational services to young people in the Lviv Region of Ukraine.
